As
a part of Yahoo!’s open strategy, we are bringing the exciting
Yahoo! Mobile Developer Awards to Indonesia. The inaugural Yahoo!
Mobile Developer Awards (YMDA) was first launched in Singapore in 2008,
involving the best student developers in Singapore and leading sponsor
companies such as Kellogg Asia, DBS Bank, Malaysia Airlines, and
UEEEU.com.

This
year, Yahoo! is opening up the competition to all developers and
running the competition across various countries in Asia, starting with
Indonesia. On top of that, Yahoo! is also increasing the prize monies
to US$10,000 for every winning widget. The Best in Show award recipient
will receive additional prize money of US$10,000.
Registration closes 2 April. |

The
competition will be sponsored by 6 major brands, which will only be
revealed at the kick-off on 4 April. Each participating team will be
randomly assigned to a brand category. Teams will then build a mobile
application based on their assigned brand’s brief and compete
against other teams of the same brand category.
The widget development will commence on 4 April and end on 1 May when
all widgets must be submitted to Yahoo! via the YMDA micro site.
Yahoo! will review all submissions and select the best entries for
each brand. Developers of these entries will be notified by 5 May. They
are then required to deliver a presentation to the judging panel on 9
May. The panel of judges is made up of 1 Yahoo! representative and 2
brand representatives. |
|
A
Finale party will be held in Jakarta on 16 May where winners of each
brand category will be announced. The 6 winning teams will then compete
for the “Best-in-Show” award by presenting their widgets to
the panel of executive judges, made up of the event’s
Guest-of-Honor and the MD of Yahoo! Southeast Asia.
All winning teams will receive prize money of US$10,000 each. The
“Best in Show” winner will receive additional US$10,000
prize money.
