Who can enter?
The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents in the U.S. and you must be 18 years or older at the time of entry. No purchase is necessary to participate and the sweepstakes is void where prohibited. See the official rules for more.
When does the Best Answer Sweeps start and end?
The Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 a.m. CDT on September 27, 2007 and ends at 11:59 a.m CDT on October 12, 2007. Your answer must be selected as a Best Answer by 11:59 a.m. CDT on October 19, 2007.
Which Best Answers count as entries into the Sweepstakes?
You must receive a Best Answer in Consumer Electronics, Computers & Internet, or any of their subcategories during the two-week period to be eligible, and adhere to the Answers Community Guidelines. Limit of 5 entries per person.
How are the winners selected and notified?
There will be a series of random drawings from eligible Best Answer entries one week after the answering period. Winners will be notified using the contact information they've provided at sign-up sometime in November.
What's a Top Contributor and how do I become one?
A Top Contributor is someone in the Answers community who, through their active and high quality participation on Answers, has shown that they are knowledgeable in a particular category. Read more about it here.
What if I'm a Top Contributor and I don't want to receive the complimentary 1-year subscription to WIRED Magazine?
No problem. Simply decline the option by leaving the "opt-in" box unchecked when you sign up.
If I'm a Top Contributor, where and when will I receive the magazine?
The magazine will be delivered to the address provided during sign-up. Please allow 10-14 weeks after the end of the answering period for the first issue to arrive.
Why is the Sweepstakes limited to the Computers & Internet and Consumer Electronics categories?
These two categories are the first of what could be many categories featured in the Best Answer Sweeps. We’re starting with Computers & Internet and Consumer Electronics, but if we receive positive feedback from the community about this new giveaway concept, we’ll look to hold more of them in the future for other categories. If you would like to suggest your favorite category for a future sweeps, please let us know in the forum.
What should I enter as my Yahoo! ID?
You should enter the Yahoo! ID that is associated with your Answers profile and not your Answers nickname. This is the same Yahoo! ID you use to login to your Answers account.
