Features of Moderator Central
- How can I make best use of the Message Boards?
-
Message boards are ideal for joining or starting a public discussion. The basics for participating in both are:
- Post a new message:
Go to the message list view, sign in to Yahoo! if necessary, and, click
"Post New Message." Select your public profile (which is how others
will recognize you), write both a message subject and message, and then
click "Post Message."
- Create a new topic: Briefly summarize your question or subject in the “message subject” line when you post a message.
- Reply to a message: Click
the "Reply" link at the bottom of any message, sign in to Yahoo! if
necessary, select your public profile (which is how others will
recognize you), write your comments, and click "Post Message." You can
edit your message as you write it but you cannot edit it after you
preview or post it.

Starting a Group
- What does being a groups moderator entail?
The
role can be as simple as starting a group around a common interest, or
as complex as running a business from the site. Some form of leadership
is usually involved. Moderators often create a feeling of welcome and
community. Sometimes they have to mediate between disagreeing parties.
They can set functionality around new-user membership and approve all
group emails (great for controlling spam). The time spent moderating
depends on the size and type of group and the moderator's preferences.
No matter how they handle it, many moderators find this "job" fun and
rewarding. Check out the Yahoo! Groups Team Blog for inspiring stories, tips and advice for new moderators.
