Distance, school, work, and excommunication from the telephone...any one of these elements would create major problems for most couples. A combination of the four venoms would spell doom for all but the strongest relationships.
Yet the three IMU couples not only survived the trial, they emerged as stronger, more connected sweethearts. As IMU draws to a close, it's time to review memorable moments from the couple's intimate communications.
Marianna & Jackson, our aptly named "Power Couple," quickly found their schedules packed tighter than a football team in a phone booth. Marianna found a quick second to relate her itinerary to Jackson in an email:
good morning baby!!! i hope you get this before you start your day .... im going to be super busy today, i have to get my nails done, go tanning, take care of parking and financial aid stuff, get to class by 12 then done at 2, then to a writing class, then i have to come back and get ready for tv2 by 5pm, and im done by 630, but ill be really busy until then, THEN i have homework
Jackson had an intense agenda of his own to deal with.
i had a busy day today just like you did!! First i had to go to class at 9, then i had a math class at 10 and went to study table for math untill about 1130. Then i had to hurry up and go to lunch. After lunch i had to do my lifting session for football at 1230. I was late for it so now i have to run at 630 tommarow morning!!! But its okay...... then right after i was done with lifting i had to go to football meetings then off to practice after that..... Then when practice was done i ate dinner then got my hair cut. Then i had to pick up some of my books from the bookstore ........ THEN i had to email my baby which im doing now!!! :D YAY!!!
In the face of such impediments, Stephanie & Bernard came up with an innovative way to make sure they both made time to stay connected: date night. Stephanie explained the idea in an email to Bernard.
hey gorgeous, sorry for the lack of email yesterday. i was just really busy with everything. ahhhh i'm so dreading next week because i really won't have ANY time for anything. if i'm not at work, i'm locking myself in my room and making myself study.
but anyways i've been having a bad day, so i was wondering if we could do a date night tonight? i stay home and you stay home and we eat dinner together (tv dinners of course) and chat on yahoo IM then play yahoo games until i get upset because i'm losing and we'll just catch up on everything. k?
How well did date night succeed? We'll let Bernard's email explain:
Date night was wonderful last night. We really should make that part of our routine. I miss you so much sweetie. i'll talk to you laterrr or somethinggggg! LOVE YOU!
None of these obstacles could stand in the way of a very important date: Christine & Jonathan's first anniversary. To celebrate, Christine wrote Jonathan a long letter where she recalled their first night together.
Often we try and pinpoint what the "best night of our lives" was and … I think that was mine … that night changed my life forever … after that night I was never again the same. Suddenly I was consumed by something bigger than I had ever imagined. I didn't know how it would work … or why it would work … but I did know it would work. I knew that first day … that first "goodbye"... It was the hardest goodbye of my life and I was seeing you the next morning. I didn't realize you could fall in love that fast. I used to think it was this long courting process. Who'd of thunk it could happen in the middle of watching Orange Country on that stupid pull out couch …who knew that right there … at that point … my life would be forever changed.
To Jonathan, however, distance not only made the heart grow fonder, but also more forlorn as well.
It's Sunday.... the day after Christine and I's ONE YEAR anniversary... all i want to do is be with her right now!!! i sit back and ask myself why i am not with her right now??? All of the awesome college actitivies just seem lame and boring with out her.
No doubt these couples are eager to speak to each other again, much less dying to be together in person. Yet their struggles and tribulations came with a happy ending that should warm the hearts of all you hopeless romantics out there: love conquers all. We thank you for tuning in to IMU every week. Stay strong and stay connected!
